Dando continuidade ao programa Novo Rio Pinheiros, a Sabesp inaugurou na última segunda-feira, 19 de dezembro, cinco unidades voltadas à recuperação de afluentes que passam por áreas informais e outros locais onde não há viabilidade de implantação da rede de esgoto. Uma dessas URs (Unidades Recuperadoras da Qualidade das Águas) fica no Jaguaré, num trecho onde o Rio Pinheiros deságua no Tietê. Por conta disso, a expectativa é que o equipamento contribua, também, na despoluição do principal rio que corta São Paulo. “O Rio Pinheiros era considerado um rio morto e foi preciso toda a dedicação do Governo de São Paulo para tirar esse projeto do papel e devolvê-lo à cidade. Fizemos a concessão das margens e, em breve, teremos a Usina São Paulo requalificada com restaurantes, bares, escritórios e diversas opções de lazer e entretenimento para toda a população”, destacou o governador Rodrigo Garcia, durante evento na UR Jaguaré.
De acordo com a Sabesp, as unidades recuperadoras vão remover o esgoto do próprio córrego, melhorando a qualidade das águas, além de contribuir para a despoluição do Pinheiros. Cada UR capta a água de um afluente e a devolve sem odores, com maior capacidade de abrigar vida aquática.
Mais oxigênio e menos poluição
Em março deste ano, as águas do Rio Pinheiros apresentaram, pela primeira vez, níveis satisfatórios em 85% do leito. Dos 13 pontos de monitoramento do rio, 11 atingiram um DBO (Demanda Bioquímica de Oxigênio) abaixo de 30 mg/l, quantidade mínima para que a água não tenha odor, melhore a turbidez e permita vida aquática. O DBO é uma das principais métricas utilizadas no mundo para medir a limpeza de um rio. Para se ter ideia, em 2019, o o Pinheiros obteve uma média de 60 a 75 mg/l.
